“What makes good climate storytelling?” with Rebecca Solnit

A workshop and panel with Rebecca Solnit, Zoe Young, Jess Serrante, and Autumn Leiker for SF Climate Week 2024

Climate storytelling is not just the purview of writers, it’s something that all of us can and need to do every day. It blurs the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction because all possible futures only exist in the realm of fiction until we take steps to actualize them in the present. We create the world through story.

Join us for a roundtable and workshop on effective and compelling storytelling for the climate future we want.

Hosted by climate storytellers:

In this event we:

  • Explored the role of imagination, emotion, and how we “move hearts to change minds”

  • Discussed how storytelling can help us build connections and root to our shared values to create change

  • Investigated the internal narratives we construct to help us make sense of the times we live in

  • Discovered that whether you know it or not, you are a climate storyteller
